Celebrating our volunteers for National Volunteer Week

Neighbourhood Support Manawatū depends on volunteers to keep our organisation and key initiatives thriving. During National Volunteer Week in June, we took the opportunity to celebrate and thank our wonderful volunteers with a social gathering at Murray’s Irish Pub in Feilding.

National Volunteer Week honours the collective energies and mana of all volunteers in Aotearoa. They grow our people, open minds, open hearts and create joy and contribute $4billion to the economy annually.

At Neighbourhood Support Manawatū our volunteer team includes our committee, who give their time each month to oversee and support our operations, and our team of volunteer buddies for our buddy reading programme, who visit local schools each week to connect with our young people and support their learning and development.

National Volunteer Week also coincided with a milestone for our Chairperson Brenda, who has joined the retirement club! Congratulations Brenda, enjoy every moment of it because you’ve earned it!

To all our volunteers: thank you for giving so generously of your time to make our Manawatū community a wonderful place to live.

Special thanks also to Manawatū District Councillor Hilary Humphrey for joining us as our special guest at our get together.
